GBS-NCNW Members Raise Funds for the Homeless The Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless reports that on any given day there are 3000 homeless women and children sleeping in shelters in Massachusetts. On Thursday, December 16, 2010, 3:00-7:00pm members of The GBS-NCNW wrapped gifts to raise funds for the Coalition in front of Barnes and Nobles' Book Store at the  Prudential Center, This successful effort was coordinated by Jackie Davidson.

Overcoming Childhood Obesity Initiative 

On Saturday afternoon, January 23, 2010,

The NCNW-GBS sponsored a food preparation

class at Haley House for children.

Teaching and encouraging our children to prepare and eat  healthy meals.

By utilizing the guidance from the chefs

at Haley House Boston, MA, the NCNW-GBS is

taking steps to educate families about

easy ways to eat healthy and reduce c

childhood obesity. Just look at the photos

Haley House Healthy Food Workshop

NCNW-GBS sponsors a "hands on" nutrition, sanitation and cooking workshop at Haley House for 13 pre-teens and teens. Didi Emmons, chef/instructor taught and demonstrated how to prepare healthy low fat and delicious meals prepared with fresh fruits, vegetables and whole wheat ingredients. The young people made a delicious whole wheat crust pizza covered with all fresh vegetables ( tomatoes, summer squash, sweet potato, garlic, onion and cheese) and banana smoothies.
